THE NEW IMF ISSUES IN ST MAARTEN A.A. LOURENS

I read in the newspaper that the IMF officials came to St. Maarten and concluded that we should add a VAT(duh) and that the high salaries should go down…… (pause)

I have concluded that the St. Maarten Government obviously took the IMF officials to St. Barths….. GTFOHWTBS!

      • Gregory RichardsonActually there is ONE section of the job force that has seen a significant increase in salary recently…maybe the IMF was referring to them?

      • Nelson Els this was meant for all the civil servants, assistants(technical)
and those holding the highest office…..

St maarten simply can not afford this govt. apparatus….
it is too big & too expensive

we cannot afford not even the rent or the mortgage on that white elephant on the pond.

and to at insult to the injury they are not even working…
        no staff,under staff, no office,no chair,no car,no money.

but maybe, maybe coming form the IMF, i hope the ordinary people
        are taking note.

      • Stevenson Pinderso what is stopping them from doing that if they are not there already

      • Lazette BrowneThis party will last more than 5 years because in its previous form it lasted for 50. This is not a new situation we are in. Mismanagement, corruption and greed has been the standard in our government for a very long time. But so long as the people of this island keep selling their votes for handouts there will be no change. Our government will continue to rape this island.

      • Lionel WoodlyYou can flag and criticize my opinion on this matter and that is, that  it’s a shame that it has gotten this far and for the people of St.Maarten to NOW actually wanting the Dutch to step in. This fiasco could have been avoided if everyone *besides the politicians and the very few* were much more informed on the pro’s and cons of that election determining St.Maartens fate.  Hell we would’ve been much better off becoming a part/municipality of the Netherlands as Saba, Statia and Bonaire did.

      • Lazette Browne The last thing our politicians want is Dutch involvement in thge day to day affairs of the island Lionel Woodly

      • Lionel Woodly‎@ Lazette: I know hence why I stated what I wrote and I also don’t care who may hate/despise/find my post ignorant because guess what….IT’S MY OPINION 😉

      • Umesh Nandwani Every ones argument here is good. What sense it makes if no one is listneing. Katia Lakecreated a group that says U know u r from St.Martin when. If we create a group and have “Honorable”(I meant horrible) dignitaries and politicians involved, then there would be heated arguments and all our points broght forward.

      • Umesh Nandwanii said it to a particular politician that has the lowest attendance record, ” Do not try and be heroes by getting independent. All u guys want is your leader to be the first P.M.. That party claimed to get it but no one is P.M.. their fate. I simply said fight to keep the N.A alive on SXM terms and conditions, but it was ego for them

      • Arlette van Gurp The Dutch are ignorant people you know,… they are basically telling/watching/showing us to wallow in our own “referendumized shit”….. cuz that’s what we asked for…

I hope the eventually get off their horse and step in though… been saying if for a year now… I agree with Lionel Woodly.

      • Stevenson Pinderthis is time now to remake history. the future of the people of st maarten is in whose hands, look to unite the little group of people and stand for a cause worth fighting for and that is our kids, they disurve better they disurve a fair chance too, ST maarten is one of the most blessed islands in the Caribbean, I just hope we are the only one who is not seeing the big picture.

      • Alston Alvarino Lourens no that won’t help Umesh Nandwani, the only way is to join an organization that knows how to table actual suggestions to parliament… the right way… Such a group does exist and will be launching soon… because the facebook is not mandatory the politicians will simply not join the group, or say they dont have the time… we have a constitution that clearly makes provisions for all citizens to table stuff to parliament that MUST be discussed in a parliamentary meeting… stay tuned we will launch soon…

      • Stevenson Pinderand is there any other organization befoore yours that atempted the same as you all right now. on the french side there are many cryes but the right people were not there to hear in Fleming days over here we are not only faced with constitutional isues , Our People are challenged by the policies and a lot of questions on the stake holders, Are you sure you are ready to stand soon

      • Alston Alvarino Lourensyes im sure, its not me alone but a team of residents who have had enough, and are devising a plan to keep them on their toes.. credibility and accountability is everything… i dont know of any other organization like that before, we are grounded in bettering the experience of society and all that encompasses that idea…

      • Edward A. de Cubai would just like to say alston, this has been long awaited (keep me posted) and to the people who doubt, Thomas Jefferson once said “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. ”

    1. Would Theo and Sarah sell us out ? Would they turn St.Maarten into a nation owned by a world bank ? Would they take our beaches and make them into refineries or landing ports for military cargo if the IMF asked them to ?

I am so afraid that the government is planning to sell us out to the imf – people if this is the case , they must be held accountable , each and everyone of them

Any idiot can Google the imf as a corrupt evil world bank and get the answers that are proven in almost any corrupt nation . The imf makes the money from thin air then borrows it to third world countries but because they make the money and care nothing about the paper they mainly want land and some slave society in exchange

Th IMF has proven over and over again to be a bad choice for any government to make – Jamaica, Guyana, Congo and any place in Africa with precious metals , Argentina ( ever heard the saying as rich as an Argentine ? ) . The imf makes it difficult to ever pay back there loans thus keeping the country under their iron fist allowing the citizens to be raped .

St.Maarten people are so frigging dumb , lazy , ignorant and care so little about real politics that i am deeply saddened that theo , and Sarah with the help of the daily herald will sell this to the decadent public as sure as you will be sitting in traffic tomorrow
