There are somethings I notice very prevalent in st. Maarten: the Chinese are buying ALL the minimarkets… Shiek is chinese and now Rainbow in Suckergarden has closed down and is taken over by Chinese… Are there any local supermarkets?
Ever realize Chinese business establishments come in 2’s… everywhere there is a chinese bar/restaurant there is another one within 100 meters, same for groceries.. the asian invasion? #onlyinsxm
Kay Belle Arnoldit’s not an invasion if the door was opened for them44 minutes ago ·
Nyanne Martinanot taking sides but it is easier to run 2 minimarket then 1. (container wise/money making etc)42 minutes ago ·
Alston Alvarino LourensSo we just got Samuel’s and the one in Middle Region? ALL the rest chinese?35 minutes ago ·

at even while working there i open other businesses19 minutes ago ·
Alston Alvarino LourensNelson, all valid points but the comment about sxm people and their cars is not totally their fault…. the banks in sxm will not give a local $3000 loan for a viable business plan but they will give the same local a $30,000 loan (no money down) for a car…. we need transport, we also need businesses…. i am a business man and have been turned down 4 times… got my jeep in 1 day though no money down…19 minutes ago ·
Nelson Els next point is I have approach locals to go into business since 1986…
they are not interested…..19 minutes ago ·
Anthony GibsMoney talks and bullshit walks… The government is clearly showing it… Even the locals are using it cause instead of renting or leasing these commercial spaces, they are selling for the fast money and the government is allowing it… Sad but true…17 minutes ago ·
Kay Belle ArnoldReally Nelson? Please explain the African economy….are the businesses there run by Chinese also? Curious as hell!13 minutes ago ·
Nelson Els and once we a local start building a business we envy them instead of revel in their success….
but it is o.k. to go give the chinese, indians, arabs, your moneyyyy!!!
and last but foremost we do not work togetherrrrr!!!!
when i sold my restaurant i try so hard to sell it with a local
because the place was making good money…
i sold it only because of personal reasons
end up selling to a Chi-nee….
and you know what he told me?????
he is buying the restaurant for his cook!
not family,not friend
and he lend him the money….
no contract, no interest, pay back as you can how you can.
they help each other and work together…
WE DO NOT!13 minutes ago ·
Nelson Els locals here cannot even hold top positions in the private sector…
check all hotels,casinos…..
all foreigners…unlike Aruba!
you wanna tell me after having casinos on the island for 40 years
we don`t have locals that can run a casino????
well…go tell …Sudi, Husang, Franchesco, Spadaro….
or theo & frankie..they are giving the license & working permits
for these foreigners to come to work with no counterpart!!!!
even if our people donot know….Teach them!!!put them to work!5 minutes ago ·
Nelson Els I AM GLAD that you bring this up
because we will never be empower or control the destiny of this island
unless we are controlling the economy! or large part of
that is why every local is in government business
the biggest business on the island….
selling drivers license…
selling govt. land….
work permits we selling
we are in the business of selling our patrimony and pride & dignity.5 minutes ago ·
Alston Alvarino LourensI agree with you 100% Nelson…. somethings gotta give…. #onlyinsxm3 minutes ago ·
